The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the biggest surprises to many around the NBA this season. After being a play-in team last year, the Thunder have quickly ascended to the level of a top-tier contender in the West, currently holding the top seed in the stacked conference.
A lot of people saw the talent and potential within OKC's organization, but not many saw them climbing to this level of success this fast. Clearly, they are here to stay and the rest of the league has been put on notice.
With the trade deadline less than 100 hours away now, there are a few players that would be excellent additions to help take OKC to the next level. Here we will look at four dream targets for the Thunder, along with what each player would likely cost them to acquire.
1. Trey Murphy III
One of the most talented bench scorers in the association, Trey Murphy would be a huge addition to the Thunder's rotation. While his numbers have taken a slight hit this season, he showed his scoring ability in averaging 14.5 points on 48% shooting while playing 79 games for the Pelicans last season.
As we know, NBA teams draft players based on their potential. With his athleticism, scoring prowess and overall feel for the game, Murphy has a chance to be a special player in this league for years to come.
With that in mind, the asking price for Murphy would likely be higher than for most 10.8 career points per game scorers. Acquiring Murphy would likely mean giving up multiple first-round picks plus other players, which would be a big ask for the Thunder.
