The 2024 NBA trade deadline is roughly 10 days away, and the Oklahoma City Thunder is once again in a position to make some noise within the trade market. The Thunder possess a unique blend of expiring deals, young players, and of course their plethora of draft capital.
Among the other 29 teams in the association, the Thunder should be paying close attention to and contacting the league-worst Detroit Pistons. This season has been disastrous for Monty Williams and company, as the Pistons have won only six games, with more than half the season in the books.
Therefore, it would not be surprising to see the Pistons be sellers at the deadline, the Thunder possess assets that could be intriguing for Detroit, whereas the Pistons have pieces that should interest Oklahoma City. Fortunately, Sam Presti and company were able to get a look at some of Detroit's talent in the Pistons 120-104 win over the Thunder on Sunday afternoon.
Should the Thunder make splash in the trade market?
Although there is a risk of disrupting chemistry when making a trade, the Thunder have shown holes versus some of the other elite teams in the league, and there is always room for improvement, so making a small move would be worth the risk.
