Oklahoma City can never forget the impact Chris Paul has made on the basketball scene in Bricktown. From starting his Hall of Fame career here after the Hornets were displaced from the tragic hurricane in New Orleans to his return in 2019-20, where he led the OKC Thunder on a surprise postseason run.

Chris Paul not only played basketball in Oklahoma City, but he has invested in the community as well during his two tour stint here in OKC.

Paul led the 2019-20 team, where he clearly took Shai Gilgeous-Alexander under his wing. This was Gilgeous-Alexander's second season in the NBA and the first since being the centerpiece of a historic trade.

Back then, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was just a kid, and has since evolved into an NBA superstar. Even patterns from Gilgeous-Alexander's game can still be traced to that one season with Paul.

Chris Paul reflects on his relationship with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the Point Forward Podcast.

It is well documented the respect the point guards have for one another, but it was made even more apparent on Wednesday during Chris Paul's appearance on the "Point Forward" podcast hosted by Evan Turner and Andre Iguodala.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander raced over the first three rows in the Chase Center following the OKC Thunder's thrilling overtime win over the Warriors to go see Chris Paul's kids last Saturday. When asked about the event Paul reflected on their relationship.

"I try not to get emotional When I talk about Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] because that was my first year living without my family. Man, Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] is just a basketball head" Chris Paul described.

"Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander] would come over to my house just to eat before practice, because I had a chef...he is so good when it comes to hooping, he just is a better person, I mean that." The future Hall of Famer continued.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have seen Shai Gilgeous-Alexander turn into an MVP-caliber player thanks to the tutelage of one of the best point guards ever to play the game. It is clear their relationship goes beyond the hardwood.
