Tuesday, the OKC Thunder took part in their first session of training camp as they gear up for what is hoped to be yet another promising and overall prosperous campaign.

This summer, the franchise underwent a ton of changes, particularly when it comes to their talent pool where they parted ways with several familiar faces (Josh Giddey, Mike Muscala, Gordon Hayward, etc.) and added on fresh new ones (Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, Nikola Topic, etc.).

Oklahoma City is viewed as a legitimate threat to take home the Larry O'Brien Trophy during this upcoming 2024-25 season, and, because of this, excitement surrounding the organization is seemingly through the roof.

For those longing to stay up-to-date with the current state of the Thunder, today we highlight several facts concerning the club as they make their way through training camp, the preseason, and, ultimately, toward their October 24 season tip-off against the Denver Nuggets.

Fast facts about the OKC Thunder during 2024-25 training camp

20 players make up training camp roster for Thunder

The league requires teams to have no more than 15 players on their active regular-season roster, though they are allowed to have up to three additional players linked to two-way contracts.

As things currently stand, the Thunder have 20 players joining them for training camp and will need to cut down their arsenal by five before the regular season's tip-off. The deadline for when rosters must be set falls on October 21, the day before the league-wide opening night.

14 players attached to standard contracts

The Thunder find themselves heading into the 2024-25 NBA season with 14 players signed to standard contracts. Per the league's rules, this is the minimum number of players a team is permitted to have attached to such pacts

3 players are attached to two-way contracts

Though some believe the Thunder may want to look toward acquiring outside talents to fill in that 15 and final roster spot, in training camp the club already finds itself with several players fighting for such an honor, with three, in particular, currently attached to two-way pacts.

These players include two returners in Alex Ducas and Adam Flagler and the 38 overall selection from this past June's NBA Draft, Ajay Mitchell.

Though the two former names mentioned may seem to have the upper hand due to their familiarity with Oklahoma City's style of play (both have spent time with the G League affiliate, OKC Blue, while Flagler saw two games of action with the Thunder in 2023-24), it is Mitchell that has some such as Clemente Almanza of Thunder Wire predicting he will earn a full-scale deal this season.

Two-way contracts permit players linked to such pacts to revolve in and out of the G League throughout the season, and are allowed to take part in up to 50 games at the NBA stage.

Thunder roster 6 first-round selections from the last three NBA Drafts

Among the 20 players on the training camp roster and 14 attached to standard contracts, six are first-round selected talents from the last three NBA Drafts. This list consists of:

First-Round Picks Selected Since 2022 NBA Draft

Chet Holmgren (2022 NBA Draft)

Ousmane Dieng (2022 NBA Draft)

Jalen Williams (2022 NBA Draft)

Cason Wallace (2023 NBA Draft)

Nikola Topic (2024 NBA Draft)

Dillon Jones (2024 NBA Draft)

Youngest team taking part in 2024-25 NBA training camp

According to a recent piece penned by ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Thunder are currently the youngest team entering training camp with an average age of 23.95. At 30 years old, Alex Caruso is the oldest player currently on this roster.

Fortunately for Oklahoma City, youthfulness is far from a disadvantage as they became the youngest team in league history to clinch a top-seed in a conference standings last season with an average age of 23.92 years old.
