Over the last several seasons, the Oklahoma City Thunder have had quite the roster turnaround. So much so, that not a single player from the team five years ago remains on the roster.
Many did not fit the timeline of the rebuild in OKC, and some of them were dealt in trades to bolster the team’s future. Now, a half-decade removed from the wild 2019 offseason, one in which we saw Russell Westbrook and Paul George traded away, some of the faces from the club's past could make a huge impact in a hypothetical return.
Former Thunder who would be of great help in 2024-25 and beyond
With the Thunder’s rebuild progressing so well so fast, it could be time for the front office to look back at some players who’ve already suited up in the blue and orange and consider a potential reunion.
Earlier this month a fan made a comment towards former MVP Kevin Durant, stating the only way he could ever “redeem his legacy” was to return to Loud City and win them a title.
While Durant’s response was not very appreciative of the statement, it does lead to some questions of what former Thunder players could return.
We are just a few days shy of the NBA offseason kicking into full gear, and we already saw this front office make a move. Whether it be through trades or the free agent market, Oklahoma City is transitioning to win-now basketball.
They were just the number one seed in a loaded Western Conference.
Now, after adding Alex Caruso to the mix, it might be time to cash in on some of the draft capital Sam Presti has saved up and make some moves.
With this in mind, here are four former Thunder players who would be welcomed back with open arms this summer.
