Laying out the trade

With their slew of draft capital along with the recent rumblings that they are open to the idea of moving on from former lottery pick Josh Giddey this summer, the Thunder are equipped with a plethora of assets that could be used as trade fodder to help them execute some sort of move.

In Favale's recent proposal, they are seen using both of these aforementioned resources by way of a trade with the Washington Wizards.

For Washington, the reasoning behind why such an exchange makes sense is quite obvious.

After enduring a putrid 15-67 campaign in 2023-24, the currently direction-less Wizards would find some semblance of future stability with this package coming in from Oklahoma City, as they'd be adding a recent sixth-overall selection still attached to his rookie-scale contract and a future first-round pick to add to their gradually improving draft collection.

Giddey could easily prove to be the most interesting asset being brought aboard in this exchange, as he's still just 21 years old, boasts a 6-foot-8, 216-pound build, and plays the game's most important position of point guard.

With career averages of 13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.7 assists on 46.4 percent shooting from distance, the youngster has proven himself to be a Swiss Army talent out of the backcourt and, on a rebuilding team like the Wizards, such a commodity could be of tremendous value for, simply put, they could use for a bit of everything within their rotation.

All of this in exchange for their $90 million, 28-year-old should be seen as close to a no-brainer move as it gets for Washington.

However, what should the Thunder think about such a transaction?
