Jaylin Williams claps back at Thunder teammate over lob threat slight: 'He's hating'
By Mark Nilon
Despite concerns regarding their inexperience under the bright lights of the NBA Playoffs, the OKC Thunder seem to be rolling right along as the number one seed in these early stages of round one as they boast a 1-0 record over the New Orleans Pelicans heading into Wednesday's Game 2.
Throughout their magical 2023-24 campaign, Oklahoma City has outwardly showcased their fun-loving personality as a collective, and, thus far, it appears the postseason pressures have yet to impact this persona.
Recently, Thunder guard Josh Giddey was heard playfully bashing teammate Jaylin Williams for his leaping abilities, noting that the he does not consider the forward a "lob threat."
During a recent media session, word got back to Williams about Giddey's comments, and, with a big smile plastered on his face, the 21-year-old called him out as being a hater.
Thunder's Jaylin Williams responds to Josh Giddey 'lob threat' comment
"He's hating. I don't know what [Giddey's] talking about. I'm a lob threat... I've been talking to him throughout the whole season trying to get him to throw me [an alley-oop] but if it happens it happens. I'm a lob threat and Gid's not a lob threat."
- Jaylin Williams
The playful banter between both Giddey and Williams is nothing new for Thunder fans to see, as the two have regularly made jokes at the expense of one another throughout their tenure as teammates, with a notable example coming during preseason's media day when the point guard slammed Williams' skills as a TikTok personality.
Especially for a team with so little in-game experience in the playoffs, it's great to see Oklahoma City continuing to display their boisterous identity. Hopefully these characteristics continue to shine through during what is hoped to be a long and prosperous postseason run for this ahead-of-schedule squad.
