Unfazed by injuries, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is still at top form

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been in the running for the Most Valuable Player for most of this season. Despite injuries, he remains in MVP form for the Thunder, who need him badly as the season winds down.

"Most of it’s just trying not to think about it, and just play the game, read and react, and do everything you can to impact the game in a positive way."

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Gilgeous-Alexander sustained a sore quadriceps since their game versus the Jazz in Utah last Wednesday. Despite this, the Thunder superstar remained one of the team’s focal points in the victory over the Pelicans.

SGA tallied 24 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field and going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. He also led the Thunder in sharing the ball, dishing out a team-high eight assists to go along with two steals, which has been one of his selling points in the MVP conversations.

Since the All-Star break, Gilgeous-Alexander has been recording 0.83 points per minute, which is the fourth-highest in the league in that frame, and the second-most points in total during this span.

Obviously, the Thunder will need him to be fully healthy in the playoffs. Expect OKC to be more cautious for their superstar over these final weeks of the season.
