How would Thunder advance beyond group stage play?
The team boasting the best record after four games played in the group stage will advance to the knockout rounds, which are "winner take all" games. From there, as per the NBA, all the participants "will be determined by a combination of record, head-to-head record, point differential and points scored."
What could the Thunder win during NBA Cup?
Outside of contending for in-season glory and bragging rights, the winning team of the illustrious tournament not only receives the NBA Cup, but, also, will have $500,000 rewarded to each player on the roster.
Interestingly enough, however, winners aren't the only ones who receive rewards for their efforts and participation, as $200,000 per person will be allotted to the second-place team, followed by $100,000 for those who get to the semifinals, and $50,000 for everyone who reaches the quarterfinals.
**Two-way players receive half the amount of each listed figure
How did the Thunder fair during the 2023 NBA Cup?
While the OKC Thunder were undoubtedly one of the best teams the NBA had to offer last season, they faired rather poorly during the in-season tournament's debut.
Mark Daigneault's club wound up going a putrid 1-3 in group play and, in turn, were eliminated from advancement reletively early.
Hopefully, with their bevy of offseason additions and amplifications, a different outcome will be on the horizon for Oklahoma City.
