Point guard: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

This is of course the most unarguable and obvious name in the starting five. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the unquestioned top option on this Thunder team, and his most recent campaign was the latest example of how polished his game is all-around.

SGA finished up his second consecutive season averaging at least 30 points, while finishing top five in MVP voting and earning first-team All-NBA honors. A ridiculous list of accomplishments, Shai's game has grown to the point where very few players in the association have any sort of claim of being better.

He is an offensive manifesto that gets his game off against all caliber of defenders, and is a consistent performer night in and night out. There are hardly any real criticisms of Shai's game at this point. Looking back, one of the biggest factors for SGA's development was the year he spent learning under Chris Paul in OKC during the 2019-20 season. It is clear that season jumpstarted what would turn into an MVP-caliber stretch in his young career.

It goes without saying that Gilgeous-Alexander is the main building block the Thunder will have going forward. Other complimentary players can come in, but OKC's ship will always be captained by incredibly talented Canadian guard. With him at the helm, this team has a chance to do something special over the next several years.
