The two top candidates for the NBA Rookie of the Year match up for the fourth and final time this season in Oklahoma City.
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has gotten the best of his matchup with Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren the last two times they faced off, but Chet’s team will be in the playoffs this season.
That makes this a big game for OKC, as it is still in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
Both teams are playing the second night of a back-to-back, so how should we bet on this matchup?

Spurs vs. Thunder key players to watch
San Antonio Spurs
Victor Wembanyama: The last time these teams faced off, Wembanyama went crazy. He had 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and five blocks to lead San Antonio to a win. He’s had back-to-back 20-plus point games against Holmgren.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Chet Holmgren: Holmgren has played well against Wemby, putting 23 points, seven rebounds and five dimes the last time these teams matched up. I’m intrigued to see who the Thunder play in the second night of a back-to-back, as that could lead to a bigger role for Chet.
Spurs vs. Thunder prediction and pick
This is a massive game for OKC, as the team is one game out of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, but the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves (the two teams ahead of them) face off on Wednesday night.
So, OKC could leap one of those teams with a win.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned from a quad injury on Tuesday night to drop 40 points in a comeback win over the Sacramento Kings, and he should have a field day against one of the weaker defenses in the NBA – if he suits up – on Wednesday.
The Spurs did win the last meeting between these teams, but will Wembanyama play on the second night of a back-to-back? We’ve seen the Spurs rest some players down the stretch, and even though they won on Tuesday, OKC is a major step up in class compared to the Memphis Grizzlies.
OKC is 20-12 ATS as a home favorite this season, so I don’t mind laying the points in this one.
Pick: Thunder -15.5 (-110)
