1. Superstar

The Thunder have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is on pace to make first-team All-NBA for the second straight year. He is just entering his prime and figures to be one of the league’s best players for the next decade. It takes two stars to compete for a championship. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren show flashes of All-Star potential, but the Thunder are in a unique position to trade for one of the NBA’s best players.

Acquiring a superstar would take sacrifice. Oklahoma City must give up multiple draft picks and young players to make it happen. It will be a massive price, and their three top players must take fewer shots to incorporate the new talent. If everybody is willing, the Thunder would vault to title favorites if they add another top 20 player in the world.

What elite talents will be available? Fans hear the Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young rumblings already. Both are small guards and could be problematic for the Thunder. Oklahoma City needs the right player to become available to make this worthwhile. The Knicks will be bidding against them, but no team has more draft capital than the Thunder. The only question is how much is Sam Presti willing to spend?

The Oklahoma City Thunder should upgrade their roster this summer. Winning the championship in 2025 won’t be easy, and they need all the possible talent. The Thunder are coming, so stay tuned to see what this team can do.
