Game of RINGZ is the fictional story of the fractured friendship between Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant

Previously: Servant Kevin emerged from his castle and made his decision, stabbing Lord Russell in the back and fleeing Thunderos for The Bay.

Thunderos was in shock. They felt betrayed by Servant Kevin. What kind of man stabs his best friend in the back and then leaves without a word? This was not the Servant Kevin that they had come to know and love.

The city immediately tore down Kevin’s castle. They smashed it with boulders and logs throughout the day and into the night until it finally came crashing down. They rejoiced at the carnage, but their hearts were still empty.

Servant Kevin had left, and Lord Russell was dead.

What would become of Thunderos?

Lord Russell’s body lie prone on the table as Bignut, Kanntister, Little O, and Viktor knelt beside it. Sam The Magician was called upon to help revive Lord Russell, and in turn, Thunderos.

Along with Sam was Campaign, a man who only knows two things: Dancing and saying his own name. Sam examined the body of Russell and began to ponder. Was he worth reviving or should he and Thunderos cut their losses and sacrifice his body for future gain?

Then, Sam remembered his conversations with Lord Russell over the years and smiled at the memories. Lord Russell, despite the criticism from outside spectators, was fiercely loyal and always said what was on his mind. Sam knew that he could trust Russell. That this betrayal would only add fuel to his already forest burning fire.

Sam The Magician began to work his, well, magic. He began speaking in seven syllable words and adding “ly” and “ize” to the end of words that you didn’t know could function with those endings. Everyone was mesmerized, but the body of Russell didn’t move.

Sam tried a different approach. Large, complicated, words that didn’t flow, weren’t working. He simplified things. Gave his words rhythm and meaning. “Now we got bad blood. Used to be mad love. Look what you’ve done. Now we got bad blood.”

Campaign began dancing the dance of 1,000 men.

“Band-aids don’t fix bullet holes. You say sorry just for show. You live like that, you live with ghosts.”

Lord Russell quickly sat up. His eyes clear, his heart full. He looked at the men who surrounded him and smiled. He looked at Sam and said, “What’s next?”

Thunderos rejoiced. Lord Russell was alive, angry, and ready to be the savior of the city.

Russell declared war on competing cities, especially The Bay. He didn’t care who or what he had to go through to get to the top of the mountain and claim his RINGZ, he was going to put his body on the line and win the battle by any means necessary. Thunderos were overjoyed, but scared. Vengeance was upon them all.

In The Bay, Servant Kevin became nervous. He knew what Russell was capable of. He knew that he may reach the top of the mountain and claim his RINGZ, but not without many victims whose blood would be on his hands. Those who he surrounded himself with would not survive.

He tried to play it cool. He told everyone that things were fine, that he would protect them. It was another empty promise. The backlash confused Servant Kevin and he wondered why there needed to be such a war.  He thought he had crippled Thunderos when he stabbed Russell in the back, but he underestimated their resolve and passion. He thought things would be over once he left the city, but it’s that mindset that showed he never truly understood Thunderos or Lord Russell in the first place.

Servant Kevin had started a war that he felt he could win, but not one that he wanted to take part in.

Epilogue: Servant Kevin and House Warriors made it to the top of the mountain, claiming their RINGZ, but not without many casualties. Lord Russell did what he set out to do. He not only burned down The Bay, he burned down everything around him, including Thunderos. Russell left a path of destruction as he took out those who dared challenge him. Servant Kevin won the war, but he had lost every battle.

On the outside, he wore a smile. He celebrated with Prince Curry, Draytheon, and that one guy who you swear to everyone is very vital to the story even though you can’t remember why. But on the inside, he felt empty. He watched Lord Russell sacrifice himself at every turn and the accolades bestowed on Russell for those sacrifices. It didn’t matter that Russell flamed out. That he tore down everything that he helped build. Russell was the hero that he once was. The hero that Thunderos deserved, even if Servant Kevin was the one they needed.
