Welcome to OKC Thunder – In the news for Tuesday, May 30 where we look at articles on Jerami Grant’s famous family in rap lyrics, the Thunder needing to tweak their offense and TI’s Draft prospect profiles .

OKC Thunder fans and Russell Westbrook are still awaiting “can I have the envelope please” at the NBA Awards show on June 26. Hopefully the announcement will confirm he is the 2016-17 MVP.

Tweaking the OKC Thunder offense:

More pressing issues for the team this offseason is how to tweak the squad’s offense so Westbrook isn’t tasked with having to do as much as he did this season.

Fred Katz of CNHI Sports Oklahoma asked the questions regarding the Thunder’s offense.

"A theme throughout Westbrook’s season was sustainability. Was his performance sustainable on an individual level? Would he break down or fall off in some form before the end of the year? Is any player maintaining that level of production throughout a season realistic?Turns out, it was. However, now, the question has changed. The new question is whether Westbrook’s style is a sustainable model for the Thunder offense?"

Jerami Grant’s family rap moment:

Erik Horne of News OK interviewed Jerami Grant of the OKC Thunder  recently.

Horne touched on some team related issues including the long serving friendship between Grant and Oladipo. But, our TI team were most interested in his answer to the question about his uncle (Horace) ending up in a rap song.

"I wanted to read something to you and see what you think of it:Now, what y’all wanna do? Wannabe ballers, shot callers, brawlers Who be dippin’ in the Benz with the spoilers On the low from the Jake in the Taurus Tryin’ to get my hands on some Grants like Horace …(Note: The lyrics are from Puff Daddy & the Family’s 1997 hit “All About the Benjamins.” Grant’s uncle, Horace, won four NBA titles and has career earnings of nearly $68 million. Jerami was just 3 years old when the song debuted).“I think that’s amazing. When I first heard it I was like, ‘Wow. My uncle.’ I actually didn’t hear it until somewhere in high school. I really wasn’t listening to nothing like that. It’s big time. You know how players are. When they hear their name in a song, it’s kinda like you made it. Just for me to hear it, my family to hear it, it’s kinda like, ‘Wow, he was actually big time.’ He wasn’t just on NBA teams, he wasn’t just on the championship teams, he was actually starting and making a big difference.”"

Thunderous Intentions NBA Draft Prospect Series:

If you are like most NBA fans you’ve been left a little cold this post season. Boring series, lack of competition and quick series led to this NBA Finals. Sure, some may say the ends justified the means. But, is anyone still interested after the most boring playoffs in recent memory?

The problem for OKC Thunder fans is few want to watch Kevin Durant get rewarded. The scar is still open after KD abandoned OKC to join the squad his team led 3-1 last season.

For those of you who would rather avoid these celebrations Thunderous Intentions has plenty of material to keep you busy.  Our NBA Draft Prospect series provides details on the top 60 (or more) prospects who might hear their names on June 22.

Those prospect analysis articles are rolling out fast and furious with six hitting our site to start the week. Although I’m partial to a couple of point guards (in particular my sleeper pick Frank Ntilikina) it’s Tony Heim’s review of Rodions Kuruc who is most likely to fall into the Thunder’s area of selection.

"If you fell in love with Alex Abrines this season, chances are you’re going to be a fan of Rodions Kuruc. The similarities are endless: both entered the draft while playing for Barcelona, both are wings who can shoot the lights out and both need to put on a good amount of weight to succeed in the NBA."

Check out Heim’s entire article here and be sure to catch our OKC Thunder daily prospect reports as well as TI’s season player reviews along with lots of other topical and exciting articles.

Have a great Tuesday and see you back here tomorrow to catch ‘In the news”.
