Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to highlighting the best content about their favorite team.

Today is the day. Paul George will officially be introduced as a Thunder. Side note: “as a Thunder” is the worst phrase in sports. For that reason alone they should change the name. Anyways, George is in Oklahoma City as I type and you read, meaning we have lots to cover today.

Paul George lands in Oklahoma City

This was an absolute site to see. If you haven’t seen the footage from PG-13’s welcome to OKC, click this link now. For the Win embedded a few of the tweets, but you can find a lot more with a simple google search.

"Fans were absolutely thrilled on Tuesday to greet Paul George at the Oklahoma City airport as hundreds of fans turned out for a first look at the new Thunder star. The crowd was chanting “PG! PG!” as he made his way to give fans high-fives from the other side of a fence. It was quite the welcome for George who was acquired from the Pacers."

Paul George speaks out on his switchup

Everything Lee Jenkins from Sports Illustrated writes is gold. It’s exactly why George entrusted Jenkins to write the first feature story since the trade. He said some interesting things – including that the eventual Lakers move has been overblown in the media.

"George has no relationship with Russell Westbrook beyond pregame pleasantries. He describes Sam Presti as one might depict a character in a spy novel. All he has ever seen of his new home is the Skirvin Hilton Hotel and Chesapeake Energy Arena. But in the 11 days since George was sent from Indiana to Oklahoma City, he has done his research, asking former Thunder players what he can expect in one of the league’s smallest but staunchest markets. One notable source was particularly insightful."

The other Thunder players are introduced

It turns out Sam Presti made a couple other moves this offseason. Raymond Felton and Patrick Patterson were introduced to the media yesterday. Yours truly watched the press conference and broke down the most important tidbits.

"Felton made his intentions known from the opening question: he’s hear to win a championship. The veteran point guard talked about how he sees how hungry the entire organization is to win a title. Felton discussed how he believes the moves Presti made this offseason gives this team an opportunity to do something “special.” 12-year veterans don’t go around saying that about every team."

Rejoice. Paul George is a member of the OKC Thunder.
