Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream: a daily post dedicated to finding the best content around the web about their favorite team.

How’s everyone doing today? Still reveling in the fact that Paul George is a member of the Thunder? If we’re to believe Instagram, Russell Westbrook sure is ecstatic. Other Oklahoma City players haven’t had as smooth of a summer – we’re going to check in on them as well. Let’s jump right in.

Russ raps for the people

I love this. Nearly a year after Russell Westbrook famously lip sang Lil Uzi Vert’s “No I Do What I Want” on Instagram, Russ is back. And this time, he’s bringing back the classics. The League MVP showed off his pipes while in the passenger seat; he looked 1000X times happier then last year’s spectacle. Shoutout Hot new Hip Hop for giving the Thunder superstar some love and showcasing the most interesting man in the NBA.

"Russell Westbrook is just here enjoying life – but don’t take my word for it. I have proof!"

Doug McDermott opens up about his struggles

I don’t know how to feel about McDermott opening up. I have no problem with him voicing his concerns, but at some point he has to realize his destiny if he’s to stick in the NBA. McBuckets is a great scorer, but the athleticism of today’s small forwards makes it difficult for him to create space. Ultimately his best shot is at power forward. For that to happen, the former Creighton standout will have to bulk up and increase his proficiency on the boards.

"It’s been really hard because you’re learning how to play a different position at the highest stage of basketball. So I feel like I’ve really grown a lot. Kinda learned my role and try to embrace it."

Keeping Andre Roberson was essential for OKC

Thunderous Intentions staff writer Matthew Hallett was spot on with his assessment. Oklahoma City isn’t going to beat Golden State by outscoring them – they have to beat them on the defensive end. The Thunder have two of the best perimeter defenders in the game, giving them reason to believe they can contain Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant as much as possible. Without Roberson that wouldn’t be the case.

"Now the Thunder have one of the better perimeter defenses in the NBA. Roberson and George are both elite defenders on the wing. Patrick Patterson, another offseason signing, is one of the more underrated defenders in the league."

That’s it for today’s edition of Thunder in the news. Make sure you check back tomorrow for a can’t miss issue of ITN!
