OKC Thunder: Power Ranking the Roster after Training Camp Cuts
By Tony Heim
13. Josh Huestis
Position: Small Forward
Age: 24
Contract: 1 years/$2,191,480 (two additional years with a team option)
2015-2016 Stats: 2.8 ppg, 2 rpg, 5 games
This is a big year for Huestis. With [REDACTED] out of the fold the small forward position is wide open. Andre Roberson is set to start, but the battle between Kyle Singler and Huestis for the second-string spot is undecided.
Huestis brings freak athleticism to the table. At 6’7, 230 pounds he is extremely quick with a great standing vertical. Pairing him with Oladipo, Westbrook, Steven Adams and Roberson would make for an amazing defensive lineup. The question with Huestis is whether or not he’s talented enough on the offensive end.
The 24-year old scored anywhere from 0 points to 11 points in the preseason, primarily from off-ball cuts and mid-range jumpers. He is a smart player; Huestis just needs a reliable jumper to consistently crack the rotation.
