Explaining Kendrick Lamar’s newest single for Oklahoma City Thunder fans.

After applauding Drake from afar last week because he said “triple double, Russ face” in a song, King Kendrick Lamar gave us a reason to openly worship at his alter.

Last night, Kendrick dropped ‘The Heart Part 4,’ where he rapped, “you jumped sides on me, now you bout to meet Westbrook.” (fire emoji) (fire emoji) (fire emoji)

He didn’t stop there though.

“Go celebrate with your team and let victory vouch you. Just know the next game played, I might slap the shit out you. Technical foul, I’m flagrant, I’m foul. They throwin‘ me out, you throw in the towel.”

(so many fire emojis that this column burns in your hands if you decide to print it out)

Drake references Russell Westbrook because Westbrook and his triple-doubles are a popular reference right now. Drake is a fair weather fan who will hang out with whoever is popular. He’s the ambassador for the Toronto Raptors, and will be front row during the playoffs, yelling at the refs. He’ll be doing this while dapping LeBron after the game and hanging out with the Golden State Warriors on off days while wearing a Westbrook UCLA jersey.

Kendrick references Westbrook because he’s cut from that cloth. He respects the legends, but has no friends in the current game. He’s part of a label, and he has their back, but if they jump to another label, they get the Westbrook treatment. Unafraid to take a loss or two, Kendrick would rather die than quit.

That’s what makes Kendrick the best and most-respected. His unapologetic attitude to ether everything and everyone in his path. Drake may sell more albums and have more plaques, but his cupcake personality prevents him from ascending to a different level.

Kendrick ends the song by saying, “Y’all got ‘til April the 7th to get ya’ll shit together.” It’s a reference alluding to Kendrick potentially dropping a new album on that day. I’m going to take it another way. I’m going to give Thunder fans til April the 7th to finish this assignment. The 7th is about a week before the NBA Playoffs start.

We need to know who is truly on our side.

More from Thunderous Intentions

If you’re a Thunder fan, ask your fellow Thunder fan a simple question: Drake or Kendrick Lamar? If they say Kendrick, they’re truly on our side. We can go to war with those people. Those people will get thrown out before they throw in the towel.

If they say Drake, don’t trust them. I recommend just cutting ties with that person immediately before they stab you in the back. I don’t care if you’ve known this person your entire life. If they’re a Thunder fan and a Drake fan, they can’t be trusted. They were probably Lakers fans 10 years ago and they’ll be Celtics fans in a couple of years. Plus, you know they have a LeBron jersey in their closet.

Figure out who you can trust heading into the playoffs. Figure out who is going to lose their voice, break everything in their house and be mad for weeks after a loss. And, at the same time, figure out who is going to go 10-31 before openly rooting for another team. Thunder fans, y’all got til April the 7th.
