In a game where Russell Westbrook managed to tie the NBA record in triple-doubles for a single season, the OKC Thunder obliterated the Milwaukee Bucks from the get-go, winning by a final scoreline of 110-79.

The Bucks’ only lead came with 9:23 remaining in the first quarter, with the score being 3-2 in favor of the visitors. That lead only stood for 19 seconds, and since then the OKC Thunder didn’t look back.

The first quarter ended with the Thunder taking a 28-20 lead on an Alex Abrines buzzer beater.

The Thunder kept rolling in the second quarter, and were on a 24-6 run by the 9 minute mark of the second quarter.

Abrines was pretty hot in the first and second quarters, shooting 4-of-6 from 3 in 11 minutes. However, after Khris Middleton fell onto him, he sustained a knee injury and didn’t return to the game. According to Royce Young, Abrines suffered from a left knee sprain.

The Thunder, however, kept stretching their lead and were up by 24 at half-time thanks to Russell Westbrook’s 3 pointer with 8 seconds to go.

It was more of the same in the third quarter, with the Thunder just scoring ruthlessly.

History has been made

But with 9:17 to go, something rather special happened with 9:17 to go in the third. Let’s relive that moment, shall we?

That’s right, the 6’3 cyborg got his 41st triple-double with that assist. The crowd responded in fitting fashion.

Even then, the Thunder continued to keep their focus and kept running up the score, extending the lead to 89-59 after 3.

The Thunder’s largest lead of the game came midway through the fourth quarter, with the score differential nearing 40 points. `The Thunder would go on to win in convincing fashion with such a huge scoreline on a historical night like this one.

More from Thunderous Intentions

This was easily the best win of the season, as the Thunder managed to blowout a playoff team in the Bucks on national TV in this fashion. The Thunder held Milwaukee to 35.8% shooting and 3-18 shooting from 3.

Oklahoma City shot an impressive 47.6% from the field. The Thunder had 29 assists as a team and got 53 boards to Milwaukee’s 38. The bench production was just massive tonight, scoring 65 out of the Thunder’s 110 points.

All in all, it was a great and memorable win.

Russell Westbrook looks to break the triple-double record tomorrow when the Thunder head out to Memphis to face the Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.R
