Russell Westbrook Top 10 list from historic triple-double season
Number 10: No team or player registered a triple-double against OKC/Russ:
In a season dominated by triple-double performances, this stat stands out. It’s a testament to the entire OKC Thunder squad and their solid defense. Three players came close all in the first quarter of the season:
- November 2: Barely into the 2016-17 season LA Clippers guard Chris Paul came one assist shy of the mark with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. Paul also had 6 steals, but on the negative side 5 steals. Although not one of Westbrook’s triple-double efforts his 35 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals were pivotal in the Thunder victory.
- November 9: Kyle Lowry produced 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 13 assists in Chesapeake no less. The difference on this day was his Raptors beat the Thunder serving up their first loss at home.
- December 9: Not surprisingly James Harden who also posted trip-dubs throughout the season came close with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists. The Rockets won but barely held on with OKC outperforming them in the final frame 22-16. Ultimately, OKC lost by 3 points.
