Thunder in the news is your one stop shop for OKC Thunder basketball – today we’re throwing it back by checking in on Mitch McGary. But first…

It’s a great time to be a Thunder fan – I didn’t need to tell you that. While the NBA offseason is officially at a stand-still, there is still a ton going on with this team. Including 0ur MVP releasing something outside of basketball.

Russell Westbrook announces style book

A week doesn’t go by where something awesome happens for Russell Westbrook. Whether it’s accolades, acquisitions or awards, Russ keeps on winning. He’s done it again, this time with the announcement of his new style book.

He truly is the Most Interesting Man in the NBA.

Mitch McGary hits the lanes

What a throwback. McGary is my favorite case of “What could have been” when it comes to Thunder draft picks. He flashed true NBA intangibles his rookie season – between the weed and his unwillingness to get in shape McGary quickly fell out of favor in OKC.

Now he seems to have found another passion in life: bowling. Johnny Gorches from The Chicago Post-Tribune caught up with McGary on this newfound passion. It’s an interesting read that puts McGary’s thought processes at the forefront.

"No truth to the rumor that McGary will put basketball behind him and try to bowl professionally. He considers bowling to be a fun respite in between basketball endeavors."

Lakers situation shows Presti’s genius

By now we’ve all heard about the potential LA Lakers tampering investigation. It’s big news for Thunder Nation, especially if they are in fact found guilty.

The entire debacle is a clear-cut explanation why Sam Presti took the risk and traded for Paul George in the first place. I won’t waste my entire argument here though; you’ll have to click that link.

"Unlike Magic, Presti can discuss George’s future plans with no hesitation. Sam Presti didn’t trade for one year of Paul George, he traded for one year of recruiting Paul George."
