Thunder in the News is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.

Oklahoma City Thunder preseason basketball is officially over, meaning we have to wait eight days to watch Thunder basketball again. It’s not optimal, but with a little persistence (and daily visits to Thunderous Intentions) we’ll get through. Today is an interesting issue of Thunder in the News. We’ll start with a recap from last night’s game then move on to a little shoe spectacle in OKC.

Grading the top performers from last night

No shame in my game: of course I’m going to link to my own recap from the final preseason game of the year! Last night was the Thunder’s best overall performance so far. They forced Denver into contested shots all night and created fairly open shots for themselves on the other end. Oklahoma City’s 38 three-point attempts were the most since Kevin Durant, a sign of what to expect once the offensive chemistry reaches full capacity.

"After tonight we can firmly say that progress is being made, but there’s still 82 games of work to be done."

Russ gets a shoe released…

These. Are. So. Clean.

I’m really hoping these are the shoes Russ wears every time the Thunder wear their new Statement jersey. Honestly he could wear these shoes every game and I would be content. Russ and Paul George have now both released OKC concepts, leaving Carmelo as the last of the OK3 without a new shoe for this season. Will he get one?

…while Carmelo deals with a little shoe drama

It was reported last night by ESPN’s Nick DePaula that Jordan is ending Melo’s signature shoe line after 13 seasons. Then Carmelo reported something different after hearing the news:

This is going to be an interesting story to watch, simply because DePaula is a respected reporter in the industry. There’s no chance he would publish something false, so could there be a misinformed leaker in Jordan? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
