OKC Thunder vs. Raptors
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – DECEMBER 27: Steven Adams /

Objectives for Raptors different than OKC Thunder down stretch:

Just prior to the All-Star Break the Raptors overtook the Boston Celtics for first place in the Conference. If you are a stats junkie like this scribe that probably didn’t surprise you. This because the Raptors season began with copious opposite coast road trips.

Toronto completed all western road visits on January 20th (Minnesota). In comparison the Celtics still have five remaining including a four game stint. Given how much of a toll travel takes on the body it’s understandable why the Raptors began to ascend once the travel lessened.

That said, the Raptors are still travelling and playing a lot of back to back sets and afternoon games. However, with a five game cushion over the Celtics the Raptors will likely start resting players periodically. The bad news for the Thunder is Toronto rested Kyle Lowry in Friday’s match versus the Mavericks, so he’ll be fresh today.

Moving forward the Raptors have 13 games remaining (including today’s matinee). Six of those games are on the road. Two back to back sets are still to be played (one on the road). Seven currently seeded playoff teams are in this mix. In addition, the Raptors face Denver and the Clippers at home.

Entering today’s match Toronto aren’t in a must win situation like the OKC Thunder. Toronto took care of business early in the season and unlike OKC doesn’t have to play desperate each game out.

In spite of this, don’t expect the Raptors to mail in their effort. The squad is using the stretch to prepare for the post season and still are desirous of reaching 60 wins. Additionally, they’ll want to get revenge for the loss in OKC. Plus,  this could be preparation for a final’s series. (Hey, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for me to get my dream final is it?)

With that, let’s dive into the keys for the OKC Thunder to capture the victory.
