OKC Thunder in the news: NBA Award finalists, Draft combine

The OKC Thunder upper management are in Chicago for the NBA Draft Combine to see draft prospects while two former player are finalists in this seasons awards.

Although the OKC Thunder won’t make their draft choices until late in the second round (picks 53 and 57) they are in Chicago for the combine. This event offers an opportunity to witness under the radar talents.

One prospect sure to draw plenty of attention is Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother Kostas. Fans will be eager to witness whether the younger sibling has the same reach and wingspan. Others will be keen to witness drills and scrimmages.

Thunderous Intentions broke down the 70 attendees grouping them by position. For those invested in gathering more information tune into ESPN2 today from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (or 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Central Time). ESPN also offers a live stream for those with access. Tomorrow ESPN will air at the same time with more five on five scrimmages.

Former OKC Thunder players make the cut:

The NBA announced the finalists for the key NBA Awards with two former OKC Thunder players on the list. James Harden is expected to win the Most Valuable player. This will mark the third different player (Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook) to earn the award.

OKC Thunder fans still feel a sense of pride the original OK3 will all have their own MVP awards. Yet, the sentimental favorite may be Victor Oladipo will probably earn Most Improved in all key stat categories. Each of the key awards has three finalists. A panel of media voted on the awards which will be distributed on Monday, June 25th in Sacramento.

With the award finalists announcement social media served up some humor and shade.

As for the Western Conference Finals the Rockets won in convincing fashion last night to even the series. No games are on tap this evening as the Cavaliers and Celtics won’t play until Saturday oddly getting four days off.
