Question 5:

The last question of the inaugural Starting 5 comes again, from LauraLately: ‘Do you look back on the Pizza Rolls Thunder (Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Sefolosha, Perk, Ibaka) with fondness, or regret?‘

This question is a common one, and it is hard to not answer with one word — both.

Growing up as a kid in Oklahoma,having a professional sports franchise playing in our own backyard was unheard of. When the OKC Thunder came to Oklahoma City everyone was all-in. A lot of the state grew up with the organization, watching all 82-games every year. It is hard to take out all the great memories, which is a topic for another day. However, sadly there is another side to that coin.

The 30-for-30 on the dynasty that never was will be awesomely painful. It is hard to look at that team and not have “What could have been.” be the overruling thought.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural ‘Starting 5’ mailbag! I appreciate all the kind words, and great questions.
