2018 NBA Mock Draft first round plus OKC Thunder picks
So basically I’m taking a flyer here. TI scribe Alex Mcewen pulled a Kevin O’Connor on me. For perspective: KOC became so enamored with Mo Bamba (which is completely understandable) he had the entire Ringer office taking a new look at the big man. Well, Alex felt that way about Kostas and to be fair she’s got a point. What if he becomes even half the player Giannis is?
We’re looking for needles in haystacks this late in the draft so why not take the risk on one of these picks? Besides, what better team recruiter to have than one’s younger brother?
For more on Kostas here is Alex’s full preview: Why OKC Thunder should pick the baby freak Kostas Antetokounmpo
Team Needs:
Clearly, this is so difficult to fill in. Yes, there are the obvious holes of bench depth, particularly upfront. But, not knowing what Melo or PG will do let alone Grant, Brewer, Felton and even Huestis makes this a very difficult task for Sam Presti to navigate. In essence, the Thunder depth at every position except shooting guard AND that’s only if George returns. Reserve wise the need for a backup center might be the most pressing need.
One thing to watch for this evening is precisely what positions Presti drafts for. If at last one is a power forward it may give hints to his plans for Melo. If both picks are forwards then the writing is on the wall.
Free Agents:
- Carmelo Anthony (UFA – Early termination option)
- Corey Brewer ( UFA)
- Raymond Felton (UFA)
- Paul George (UFA – player option)
- Jerami Grant (UFA)
- Daniel Hamilton (RFA – 2-way FA)
- Josh Huestis | Fourth-year restriction
- PJ Dozier (RFA – 2-way FA)
