Free Agency – Offseason Mandate:
While the NBA is in the ‘era of the player’ how refreshing is it to witness a throwback of Dirk’s ilk? If for no other reason than to see him rewarded for his leadership and loyalty I hope Luka is everything I imagine him capable of being. In fact, I’m a big fan of the Brunson pick as well. I can envision lineups with Brunson playing with Luka and Smith to close out games. The question will lie in who is tasked with defending.
So, with DeAndre Jordan opting out Friday at least part of that equation got answered. If he does end up in Dallas it won’t be via sending assets back to LA. Hunting for relevant tweets it turned out that may well have been the very reason Jordan did opt-out, so Dallas can retain assets and not give up draft picks.
Landing Jordan will go a long way to fixing the frontcourt, but the Mavs still need to add depth at power forward which should be a priority along with wings.
