Completing the roster

More from Thunderous Intentions

All things being equal, Corey Brewer is quite clearly the more likely candidate to return next season. Brewer’s transition game provides the bench with easy offense, whereas Huestis is still a few steps away from being an impact player.

It’s not to say that there’s no place for Huestis in the league. The problem is that the Thunder are looking for a player ready to be the finishing touch to the roster.

There are still a few possible scenarios where things could change. A trade, for example, for someone like Kyle Korver, or picking up a hidden gem like Pat Connaughton, could re-ignite the need for Huestis’ defense.

Otherwise, Corey Brewer is the standout candidate to become OKC’s final remaining free agent to return to the team. Together with Felton, Noel, Grant and Patrick Patterson, Brewer would give the Thunder their best bench unit in years.
