NBA Summer League: OKC Thunder comeback bid falls short against Grizzlies
By Rylan Stiles
OKC Thunder Best Reserve:
Hamidou Diallo has Oklahoma City fans foaming at the mouth this summer. The wing that came over via draft during NBA Draft night only made his stock rise via this match. Diallo led the Thunder in scoring with 14 in this contest.
Specifically, Diallo shot at a 60-percent clip. He even went 1-for-2 from deep proving he is more than just a human po-go stick. On the glass, Diallo brought down 4-rebounds.
Bottom line depending on how much precedent Sam Presti puts on Vegas and roster needs, Hamidou Diallo, outside of Terrance Ferguson, has the best chance to make the varsity Thunder squad this season.
Best Opponent:
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
The number three overall pick in this years draft has dominated the NBA Summer circuit. In fact, it started over a week ago when his team took part in the Jazz Summer program and he dominated the competition there too.
In the win, Jackson scored 16-points to compliment his 6-rebounds and 3-blocks! Jackson has been so impressive, and has made folks wonder how he even fell to fourth to begin with.
Final Thoughts
The Oklahoma City Thunder simply did not have it tonight. The silver lining is the fact they did not quit. Even in a meaningless summer league contest, the Summer Thunder tried to rally back. Getting down by 21-points and to still make it a game late has to be applauded. Although a loss is still a lose they OKC youngsters battled back to cut the lead to four in the final 45-seconds.
The dark side of the tilt, was the fact Terrance Ferguson still could not get going. Ferguson has just one more chance to make amends this summer. That will occur tomorrow when all the consolation games take place. Although the exact opponent is yet unknown (it will be the loser of the Jazz/Magic game) the match will occur at Thomas and Mack Center at 8:30 PM ET (7:30 CT).
