Sixth Man of the Year

Out of all the awards Sixth Man has the best shot of landing in Oklahoma City. That said a few of us went for the tried and true candidates or offered hot takes.

Finalists in 2017-18Lou Williams (Clippers), Eric Gordon (Rockets), Fred VanVleet (Raptors).

Winner: Lou Williams.

Tamberlyn Richardson – Lou Williams, LA Clippers

Okay – I’ll admit I think Dennis Schoder can win this, but just to get add some variety I went with LouWill. The reality is the Clippers will need him to score in bunches, so it bodes well for him repeating.

Lawrence George – Dennis Schroder, OKC Thunder

Dennis Schroder. Arrives to OKC in a system where he will match up with second units. Should torch bench players after starting for Atlanta the past two years. If he is what I think he is, the German should comfortably take sixth man of the year should he buy in.

Rylan Stiles – Dennis Schroder, OKC Thunder

Dennis Schröder-Schröder is going to be put in a great spot to win this award. On a contending team, with talent around him both on the bench unit and especially when he gets some run with the regular starters.

Austin Sternlicht – Dennis Schroder, OKC Thunder

Sixth Man: Dennis Schroder. The Thunder close games with him on a regular basis. His ability to play off ball with Westbrook allows him to flourish in a supporting role.

Jordan Buckamneer – Dennis Schroder, OKC Thunder

This is an attempt to win back the Thunder fans I offended with my pick for MVP. Schroder will have every opportunity to thrive in his bench role and OKC needs him to play at peak performance.

Asad Ali Jamal  – Dennis Schroder, OKC Thunder

Dennis Schroder is in prime position to become the Sixth Man of the year and I think he does it. He’s a starting caliber point guard who should vie for plenty of minutes alongside the starters and is an efficient scorer who can ignite the bench. What more can you ask for?

Gideon Lim – Terry Rozier, Boston Celtics

It’s hard not to fall in love with Boston. They are the new golden standard for literally everything – prudent front office, masterful coaching and bottom-up excellence. Rozier already had his breakout over the playoffs. I’m sure Brad Stevens finds a way to let him shine along Kyrie.

Alex Mcewen: – J.J. Redick, Philadelphia 76ers

For the first time since the 2012-13 season, Redick will not be a starter. Considering, the 76ers are projected to be a top team in the East if Redick’s production is high he should garner plenty of buzz for the award.
