OKC Thunder: A hollow victory. Topic: Thunder Podcast
The OKC Thunder won, but it didn’t really feel like a victory. Topic: Thunder explains why and provides the game roundup.
What if I told you the OKC Thunder had just rattled off their fifth straight victory? What if I told you they were above .500 for the first time this season. You’d be pretty thrilled, right?
But what if, then, I told you that Russell Westbrook rolled his ankle all the way to the floor, and then slapped the court in much the same way that he slapped the scorer’s table on the night Patrick Beverley broke his knee?
Well, wonder “what if” no longer, because I have to tell you all of those things. The Thunder won again, clinging to a lead admirably after their captain hobbled to the locker room. Dennis Schröder stepped up in a big way, and OKC managed to pull this one out.

Still, though, that ankle injury looked bad, as Tamberlyn Richardson outlined here. Also, though, there are silver linings at play for the Thunder. The x-rays came back negative – which is, I swear, a positive, and a quick look ahead at the Thunder’s schedule will tell you that, although there is never a good time for your MVP to roll and ankle, there may never have been a better time.
