OKC Thunder Player Grades: Paul George scorches Heat as team wins 7th in row
Although other players will get most of the accolades for this win it was one of my favorite Russell Westbrook performances of the season. Part of the reason his teammates kept scoring at will is Russ not only kept feeding the hot hand, but he also made sure to keep all of them hot with enough touches.
Westbrook collected his 18th triple-double of the season at the 6:35 mark of the third quarter (and fifth consecutive) having amassed 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists. By night’s end, he had a healthy stat line of 14 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists on an efficient 6 of 10 shooting.
And while his superstar teammate was the hero of the night his jaw dropping dunk punctuated the win.
Not much to complain about from Terrance Ferguson who provided his best defensive effort. Sure his numbers seem meager but when two of your teammates are as hot as George and Schroder were you keep feeding them. For that reason, TFerg only had one field goal attempt.
Still, while teams around the Association are struggling to find chemistry you can tell TFerg is thrilled to be a part of this crew. The fact he embraces his role happily is something you can’t put a value on.
