C.J Miles

2018-19 – $8,333,333
2019-20 – $8,730,159 (player option)

Veteran C.J.Miles has struggled all season long, being shunted in and out of the rotation making it difficult for the 30-year-old to find his groove. Miles is shooting a career-worst 33 percent from the field and 30.3 percent from three, dropping out of favor with head coach Nick Nurse.

Despite his struggles, Miles has shown marked improvement in the past few games. His best performance of the year came against the Sacramento Kings where he posted 15 points (5-7 from the field, 4-5 from three, 1-2 free throws) in 16 minutes of playing time.

Miles is due slightly more than $17-million over the next two years with a player option for 2019-20. For teams harboring salary cap for next years free agency bonanza, his contract poses a small issue as he’s likely to pick up his option next season. Teams who look to acquire the veteran wing are banking on the 30-year-old returning to the marksman he’s been throughout his career.

Potential trade

With OKC seeking outside shooting, the idea of Miles fits what the Thunder are looking for. The second-round pick from the Raptors is compensation for the extra year Miles will likely exercise next season.  Alex Abrines is on an expiring deal and gets Toronto closer to the luxury tax floor.
