OKC Thunder buyout series part 2 – Wilson Chandler is the perfect wing
Fit
With Westbrook and PG13 leading the charge, Chandler could serve as an excellent option coming off the bench in a swiss army knife role to serve the needs of the team. He is a steady veteran with plenty of playoffs experience and is a perfect complimentary piece to the franchises two superstars.
PG13, Jerami Grant and Patrick Patterson represent the team’s depth at small and power forwards, one of the squads biggest needs following action at the deadline. Chandler can play both forward positions and give OKC what they crave the most – another two-way wing.
The veteran is essentially an older version of Grant and would swing the pendulum in OKC’s favor when the encounter the Houston Rockets and (or) Golden State Warriors at the business end of the season.
Final Thought
Oklahoma City has been unsuccessful in the buy-out market this year and needs to fill out its roster. With Deonte Burton likely to receive a spot on the team before seasons end, the Thunder need another player just to appease the league’s minimum roster requirements.

As a fan of Chandler’s game, he gives Oklahoma City a bevy of interchangeable wings who provide protection for PG13 and Terrance Ferguson should they get into foul trouble. A timetable for Andre Roberson has yet to be released and there’s plenty of skepticism surrounding his return. As it stands, the Thunder need depth now.
If OKC is able to secure Chandler’s services, one would think they’re in a position to challenge Golden State in the Western Conference Finals. All the Thunder need now is the dominoes to fall.
And I have no doubt Sam Presti will be waiting in the wings.
