Focus on defense:

For as great as the Thunder defense has been this season there has been noticeable regression recently. OKC still ranks third overall defensively. However, in the month of January, they slipped to 22nd and in February rank 14th.

Some of this is clearly due to wear and tear. Additionally, facing tougher competition and top 10 offenses also plays a role. Still, the OKC Thunder are at their very best when they lead with defense and allow it to spark their offense.

The interesting side note to take away here is during those same two months the Thunder ranks 10th and 6th respectively offensively.

Therefore, the key will be finding a balance between the two sides of the hardwood, but again, leading with the defense.

Take advantage of depleted 76ers lineup:

Two items register here. First and foremost Joel Embiid being out of the lineup is huge (no pun intended). Embiid is the key to the 76ers roster and without him on the floor, they simply aren’t the same team. Sure they still boast a number of stars with Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Jimmy Butler, and sharpshooter J.J. Redick.

There are new bench additions like Mike Scott who is shooting lights out recently (seven of nine from deep in the last two games), Jonathon Simmons and James Ennis. However, without Embiid or Marjanovic the visitor’s reserves are thin, particularly in the frontcourt.
