Are their other Thunder players who should be in consideration for awards? Who and why?

Sinjin Snopczynski: I think Jerami Grant should at least be considered for the most improved player. He shot 39.2 percent from three this season and was arguably the most consistent Thunder starter over the last month or so of the regular season.

Alex McewenDennis Schroder could possibly appear in the Sixth Man conversation, but starting 14 games and consistency will likely hold him back. JG could also garner some MIP votes, but D’Angelo Russell and Pascal Siakam will surely dominate that ballot.

Steven Maichak: In my opinion, nobody really stood out for any particular award. Just because the Thunder are my hometown team doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be realistic about the team’s capabilities or player’s individual performances. Jerami Grant is clearly an X-factor as has been repeatedly cited on the Internet the past few weeks, but that just means he’s doing his job well, not wildly surpassing expectations.

Rylan Stiles: I think Jerami Grant should get more run for Most Improved Player but that award has been Pascal Siakam‘s to lose since November.

Tailor Finney: Jerami Grant should definitely be considered for most improved. His timely 3-balls have been so helpful this season and he’s a threatening presence spreading the court because of his sharp-shooting from deep and ability to maneuver defenders to get to the rim.

Tamberlyn Richardson: The Most Improved Player Award will go to my preseason pick (Pascal Siakam) and deservedly so. In spite of Spicy P’s rapid whirling dervish ascent, he’ll get plenty of competition from D’Angelo Russell, Buddy Hield, Donatas Motiejunas, Montrezl Harrell and yes the Thunder’s Jerami Grant, but the race truly shouldn’t be close.

Although I could make an argument for Terrance Ferguson‘s overall improvement and defensive prowess he likely needs another year of showcasing those skills. But – (hot take: will we be discussing his name being a candidate for MIP or someone to consider for an All-Defensive team next season? Stay tuned!
