OKC Thunder in the news for Monday, June 3rd features three Russell Westbrook off court activities as the point guard keeps busy with his philanthropic efforts.
Although the OKC Thunder season ended abruptly it doesn’t mean the players lives slow to a halt. In the case of Russell Westbrook, he required two surgeries as soon as the team entered the offseason. The two procedures involved cleaning up his right knee (arthroscopically) and was noted as minor as well as fixing a tendon in his finger. Neither will keep him off the court for a significant amount time, unlike Paul George who’ll be limited for months.
In the interim, Westbrook is taking advantage of his free time to spend with his family and participate in philanthropic events.
Stars in NBA Finals Ad:
Despite the early playoff exit Westbrook is one of two NBA stars (Chris Paul) featured in a TV commercial with a collaborative partnership between MIB (Men In Black) International and the NBA Finals.

Given how naturally Westbrook takes to the camera you have to wonder if his post career might feature some acting for the superstar. In fact, when social media showed Westbrook in attendance at a function LeBron James held I wondered if perhaps he is in consideration to be involved in the remake of Space Jam.
He seems like a natural to co-star. Then again Brian Windhorst said many NBA stars weren’t exactly excited to be in a movie with James where they’ll be repeatedly dunked on by the King. Russ seems like someone who probably wouldn’t care – I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Fashionable Russ:
The second article details how Russell Westbrook was crowned SLAM’s LeagueFits playoff fashion winner.
"Slam Magazine took the opportunity of tying fashion from the playoffs into a bracketed event. A player from each of the matched up first round teams was pitted against a member of the opponent’s team they were playing. The winner moved forward on the board until a champion was crowned."
Philanthropic Efforts:
Finally, Westbrook married his love of fashion and charity with two t-shirts from his Honor the Gift line to help kids. This is in line with all of Westbrook’s philanthropic efforts where children are the center of his focus especially children who might not otherwise have the same opportunities.
With the NBA Finals, all tied up the teams now enter a best of five series with each team needing to claim three wins. This also points to the fact the NBA Draft is nearing (June 20th) so Thunderous Intentions will amp up our Draft Prospect Series and it also means what is expected to be a wild free agency is less than a month away. Enjoy your week.
