Weaknesses

Although his 3-point shot and free throw efficiency aren’t ideal, again, he’s only 19 and will invest the time to work on improving in these areas.

Another sign of age is his choices in the game. This past season occasionally we witnessed him drive into multiple defenders and force his shot instead of using his passing ability to get an open teammate a shot.  He’s not a low I.Q. player so I prefer to think that’s more about his age and experience. In an NBA scheme, he’ll be coached to move the ball in those scenarios.

And, while RJ was often tasked with running the Duke offense this past season that won’t likely be his role in the pros. Rather, he’ll be a wing who has the ability to offer secondary or tertiary playmaking.

While Barrett would excel in a fast pace, run and gun style the other key will be his development of learning how to function and succeed in a half court offense.
