No. 17: New Orleans Pelicans – Pierre the Pelican

The New Orleans Pelicans mascot Pierre has a fascinating design from his beak to his tail. On the top of his head lay his colorful feathers that have all the New Orleans Pelicans’ team colors layered nicely. Also, his tail is the most expansive and thoughtful mascot tail in the league.

Trust me I’ve had to study a plethora of mascot tails for this piece, and I’m a better person today because of it.

The Pelicans had two different mascots before coming to this version of Pierre. Believe me, Pierre is a dramatic improvement compared to his predecessors. His light tone and a happy smile are more likely to cause positive memories, rather than nightmares. His previous design was more of a pelican’t.
