Regardless of what happens in Houston, the situation for the OKC Thunder and Paul offers a clean slate for the star to remind everyone he’s still an elite talent capable of producing.
He’ll be relied on to help develop the youth on the Thunder roster with specific emphasis on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dennis Schroder. But perhaps more than anything he’ll need to showcase his ability as that mentor and competitor to regain the title he once held as the greatest leader in the NBA.
Given Paul’s drive and passion, he’ll take all these shots extended in this direction and use it to fuel his efforts this season. That’s a win-win scenario for the OKC Thunder who’ll benefit from their youth gaining invaluable knowledge.
And for CP3 if he can demonstrate Houston (and Harden) were potentially holding him back it also benefits the club as Sam Presti no doubt will be shopping the All-Star point guard right up to the trade deadline.
