Weltman learned from the best and he knows when a good thing is occurring it’s best not to mess with it. Much like Ujiri did with the Raptors you don’t make sweeping changes when your club starts to win. He’s chosen to focus on constancy instead which is wise given the strides the Magic took late in the season.

Steve Clifford is one of the better two-way coaches in the league and his greatest move may have been finding a way to allow Vucevic to excel. Clifford put the ball in his hands more, a smart more especially without a top level starting point guard. All apologies to DJ Augustine but he’s more of a reserve guard playing in a starting role.

That may change this season with the addition of Markelle Fultz. Although Fultz was added in February the team elected to not play him and focus on his development. That move appears to have paid off as film shows no hitch or at least it drastically limited. Perhaps all the youngster needed was a new start and good development coaches.  Since he didn’t play last year I’m listing him as an addition given the expectations he will see time this year.

Aside from Fultz, the big offseason moves involved re-signing Vucevic and Terrence Ross and bringing in Al-Farouq Aminu.
