In a recent one-on-me interview with Nick Gallo, Terrance Ferguson uttered the credo of the new OKC Thunder defense.

The OKC Thunder defense has been incredible through the first part of the season. They are top ten defensively in categories that count like defending the 3-point line. A big part of this responsibility has gone to third-year pro Terrance Ferguson.

Ferguson is playing defense at an incredibly high level this season. He has been given the toughest match-up on most nights and has come away with the honors more often than not.

In a recent one-on-one interview with Nick Gallo of okcthunder.com, Ferguson explained why he is able to be so strong defensively.

In a simple answer, Ferguson is just doing his best and trying to hold his ground. Can’t ask for much more than this right? Well, Ferguson explains that there is another element to the defense, he “knows that his teammates always have his back.”

As has been written about a lot, there are no superstars on this Thunder squad. Chris Paul and Danilo Gallinari are carrying a lot of the offense and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is going to be something special. However, the Thunder are staying in games based on their defense a fair portion of the time.

Without Andre Roberson, whose injury has still not healed, there are also no defensive standouts on the Thunder squad individually.

They are defending as a team and it seems that everyone has faith in each other, especially if you believe what Ferguson is saying.

As the season progresses the offense will grow, players will be in position for passes rather than a moment too slow. What is pleasing for the OKC Thunder fan is that the defense is going to improve as well.
