After five years of dominance in the Association, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Dubs fans feeling sorry for the Warriors. Ask any of the other 29 franchises if they would go through a season like the Warriors are dealing with if it meant they’d own three titles in five years and not one would say no.

That’s the natural progression of professional sports. Like life, what goes up must come down and eventually, the team at the very top will descend. That the Warriors descent has taken them from the very top of the pyramid to a position seemingly below the foundation is simply an added benefit for those who were out of patience over Draymond Green‘s gloating or the ongoing celebrations.

Likewise, as Golden State drifted into oblivion it felt apropos that rising star Luka Doncic and his Mavericks would be the squad to highlight just how far the great Warriors have fallen. A drubbing of 142-94 coupled with a triple-double achieved in under 26 minutes punctuated the fact.
