There isn’t much to be excited about for Knicks fans other than potentially grabbing the top draft pick this summer. And while RJ Barrett‘s rookie season has offered ups and downs there is no denying he is an NBA talent with skills and a high ceiling.

His behind the back move in the above montage is sweet and it’s clear he enjoys it when everyone is scoring unlike some of his Knicks teammates (cough – Dennis Smith Jr.).

With the option of moving players that were signed this offseason, the Knicks should jump on the opportunity to pad their draft closet. Marcus Morris is likely to generate the most interest but if Steve Mills and Scott Perry are smart they’ll try to move some other players who playoff teams might be willing to overpay to obtain.

The contracts of Taj Gibson, Julius RandleWayne Ellington, and Bobby Portis jump to mind. The other player New York should definitely try to move is Dennis Smith Jr. who hasn’t fit with the Knicks and worse is holding back the development of the other youngsters; a point driven home by the return of Elfrid Payton and how each of those youngsters has improved in concert with Payton being back.
