Former OKC Thunder player and now two-way player Devon Hall had his best game for the OKC Blue … sort of.

Once a player on the varsity for the OKC Thunder Devon Hall is now on a two-way contract and relegated primarily with the team’s G-League affiliate.

Hall had 26 points for the OKC Blue against the Capital City Go-Go. Unfortunately, despite getting 26 points his shot selection was part of the reason the Blue lost.

I want to make one thing clear, I do not dislike Devon Hall, I am only critical of his game because he is a better player than he has shown this year. On that note, it is time to take a look at his performance against the Go-Go.

Just so that there is an overall look at his numbers, Hall had 26 points on 10-of-22 shooting, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.

Breaking down the shooting numbers, Hall was 3-of-10 from deep. This meant that he was 7-of-12 from the floor. Going 30 percent from deep in a game where the team lost by seven points is a mistake.

Teams are so 3-point happy these days, they forget that higher percentage shots tend to win games. Hitting 30 percent of his 3-point attempts is nine points. Hitting 58 percent of his shots from inside the arc is good for 14 points.

On just two more shot attempts he scored five more points.

You are also more likely to get fouled if you drive aggressively to the hoop and Hall settling for ten 3-pointers is not allowing him to get to the line. He only got there three times.

Last month TI did an article about the difference between Luguentz Dort and Hall.

One of those is Hall’s aggression when he is on the court. He is a much “nicer” or “cleaner” player than the brute Dort is.

With Hall’s shooting touch, he is a really good free-throw shooter. In fact, he is an 89.5 percent shooter from the line. With the experimental G-League rule of taking the one free throw for the value of the shot you were fouled on, Hall should be exploiting this.

Next. Why Thunder shouldn’t trade before the deadline. dark

If a player went 90 percent from the floor, they would help their team to victory more often than not. It is the best way to exploit the rule. Hall should be driving to the hoop rather than settling for threes. It is the highest percentage play.
