Erik Spoelstra employed a zone heavy defense to take down the injury-depleted Raptors and held them to their lowest offensive output in over four years. Instead of bursts of zone, Spoelstra had his club stick with the strategy the majority of the match.

Yet, the effort it took by Miami to hold the injury riddled Toronto club at bay was equally taxing on them and took a toll that carried over to their next game.

That match featured fellow Florida residents, the Magic. The carryover of fatigue resulted in one of Miami’s lowest-scoring efforts of the season as they lost 105-85. Ironically, the win over the Raptors required fewer points (84).

The other loss this week came against the lowly Wizards following a big win over the 76ers (more on this next week
