An interesting side note of the Mavericks is Kristaps Porzingis has played his best (at least from a production standpoint) when Luka Doncic is out injured.
That could be because he plays far more aggressively knowing the Mavericks need him to be the primary scorer. Porzingis played in three of the four games of week 15 posting averages of 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, a steal, and 0.7 blocks.
Doncic played in the first two matches versus the Thunder and Suns but missed the games versus the Rockets and Hawks. In the lone game he played without Luka, Kristaps put up 35 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and a block.
The production continued in week 16 — now the issue is the duo and Rick Carlisle figuring out how to get both players functioning at this level simultaneously.
