All-Star 2020:

Virtually everyone who watched the 2020 All-Star Game felt it was a qualified success. Most raved over the intensity of the fourth quarter and how much more enjoyable a competitive game was instead of the typical your – turn, my – turn antics, and bloated end game scores.

What some might not remember is the changes came about based on a suggestion to Adam Silver by Chris Paul to incorporate the “Elam ending” to the contest. So, a tip of the hat to CP3 for making the All-Star Game the main event of the weekend again.

That it was Paul for the West and Kyle Lowry for the East who brought the fourth quarter moxie and defense made the game all that much sweeter.

Although there were several point guard stars who could’ve gotten the tap like Luka Doncic for his scoring prowess or Ben Simmons for his defense it was CP3 who offered both qualities and — well the will to win to the floor.

He was the perfect elixir to make sure LeBron James, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Kawhi Leonard would be able to be at their best. And they needed to be as they entered the final frame five points behind Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s team.

It was his 10th appearance in the big game and it could very well be his last with a healthy Stephen Curry and a rising star in Ja Morant no doubt among those considered along with the current crop of star guards next season.

For OKC Thunder fans and die-hard NBA fans let’s hope that it wasn’t his last appearance but if it was we’ll always have that fourth quarter to remember along with one incredible dunk!
