Venues to host games and playoffs:

Silver confirmed the two sites which the league is focusing on are Vegas and Orlando.

The latter has grown in popularity given there won’t be the same off-court distractions that would exist in Vegas whereas Disney World would be less of a distraction.

Since fans won’t be in attendance the NBA considers using one or two venues as the safest direction. This would erase the need for teams to travel.

Silver also noted it’s not the intention of the league to keep everyone under lock and key in their hotel rooms.

Training camp, schedule for regular season and playoffs:

As of the suspension, teams had between 15 and 18 games left on their regular-season schedules to complete the season. Silver did not address specifics for this segment of the schedule. He did say the hope is to play a full playoff schedule of seven games per round. He also noted a minimum period of three weeks for training camp.

Again, practical thinking is the league would play at least five regular-season games in order to collect on TV contracts. That’s because of regional TV deals that require teams to play 70 (regular-season) games in order to collect.

The commissioner also noted they are still open to a play-in tournament for the bottom seeds and could pursue that direction.
