OKC Thunder: Chris Paul and Joe Biden speak to youth at NC Community Center

OKC Thunder guard Chris Paul and Presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to a group of youngsters at a North Carolina Community Center.

With the OKC Thunder players all back in their home towns, many are still actively involved in spreading the message for social justice as well as getting everyone out to vote.

When the 22 teams were in the bubble Thunder captain and National Basketball Players Association president Chris Paul noted only 26 percent of the players were registered to vote. Recently, Paul proudly proclaimed over 95 percent of the players have registered.

An effort CP3 made a priority while a majority of the teams were in Orlando. Working with the player representatives for each team they were able to bridge the gap to get almost every player registered.

In addition, Paul continues to work with his foundation and the Social Change Fund he established with good friends Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade. That group is working in conjunction with

Paul and Joe Biden visit Steph Curry’s North Carolina gym

This week Chris Paul went to the Carole Hoefner Center located in Charlotte North Carolina. He was with a very special guest – – presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The former Vice President and Paul met with a group of high school basketballers to talk about the importance of the vote. And, while they were in the gym talking to the students they face-timed Stephen Curry. Charlotte is Steph’s home town and a location where his father Dell Curry played ten of his 16 years in the association.

During the All-Star weekend in Charlotte, Stephen, his brother Seth and his parents Dell and Sonja were on hand to celebrate their efforts in renovating the Community Center. Growing up in Charlotte Steph and his brother spent time in the community perfecting their games.

Under Armor, Steph’s affiliated shoe sponsor, Chase, and the NBPA all worked in concert to make the renovations of the gym as well as making educational upgrades like a computer lab and STEM educational area in the facility.

Although the kids, Paul, and his distinguished guest met with aren’t old enough to vote yet the veteran guard, former V.P. Biden, and Curry all encouraged them to consider pursuing politics and to make sure they actively vote when they come of age.

The above video from Paul’s Twitter account highlights part of the Curry facetime video as well as portions of CP3 and Joe Biden’s comments to the youth. Paul’s efforts with youth is also part of his passion as helping promote HBCUs has also been one of his main focuses.
